Guy Roberts is a Principal Consultant within BMT Asset Performance Ltd and has worked for BMT since 1990. With a background in naval architecture (Chartered Engineer and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects), he has specialist knowledge of all aspects of the UK’s MOD Naval Authority safety certification. Guy has been instrumental in assisting existing, new and emerging MOD Naval Authority Areas in writing and implementing policy, as well as knowledge management administration.
Guy is assigned to the NSASS team as BMT’s Project Manager for the MOD Naval Authority Knowledge Management Office. In this role Guy is responsible for delivering the service to the Naval Authority and Naval Authority Staff, the Defence Maritime Regulator, all Duty Holders, Equipment Authorities, Ship's Staff, recognised organisations and Industry. The "single point of truth" Naval Authority System (a classified web-based information tool) has over 450 registered users, from numerous maritime disciplines.
Guy has assisted the Naval Authority Areas develop their JSP 430 Chapters since 2006, with an ever increasing role as part of the JSP 430 Part 3 Secretariat. This involved close liaison with all 12 Naval Authority Areas and technical authorship.
Before transferring to BMT Asset Performance Ltd in 2006, Guy worked for BMT Defence Services Ltd for nearly 15 years on a wide range of naval architecture projects. In his previous role, Guy worked as part of a multi-disciplinary contracted-out ship project for the old LPDs, Mk9 LCUs and HMS BRISTOL . This work involved close working with Ship's Staff, Superintendent Fleet Maintenance and the refit company whilst ships were alongside. His Naval Architecture technical experience includes stability and structural analysis, survey (scoping and conducting), trials, shock and vulnerability, reliability centred maintenance.
Guy is also a line manager, the BMT Asset Performance Ltd resource manager and member of the senior company team.
In addition to taking his daughters to the numerous sports they enjoy, Guy is a cyclist and swimmer.
